Associational Leaders,
By now, many of you are aware of the shooting tragedy at First Baptist Church of Maryville, IL (see http://tinyurl.com/dfogwe) and http://tinyurl.com/accpe9). Pastor Fred Winters was killed, three church members and the shooter were injured. Director of Missions for Gateway Baptist Association, Larry Richmond, said that Pastor Winters has been an outstanding evangelistic leader in their association. The church has virtually doubled in size within the past two years, now averaging 1,200 per weekend.
Please PRAY specifically as follows:
- Pastor Fred Winters family (wife: Cindy, two elementary age daughters).
- Pray for church meeting tonight at Metro Community Church, SBC in Edwardsville, IL (see church's website for details: http://www.fbmaryville.org/.
- Pray for pastors/ministers to volunteer as grief counselors for tonight's meeting and beyond.
- Pray for DoMs Larry Richmond & Dennis Dawson as they minister to the Winters' family and lead in the response of Southern Baptist Churches in the area.
